Live Poetry Performance in Malay (24 Sep, Arts House)

The Arts House would like to invite you to join us for Lidah Aku Punyaa live poetry reading performance curated by Noor Effendy Ibrahim.

In 2014, Effendy received the honorary NAC Cultural Fellowship. He is an established arts educator, having taught in solid local institutes such as Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Lasalle College of the Arts. He was also the fifth Artistic Director of The Substation, and served as the Artistic Director of Teater Ekamatra for five years.

Lidah Aku Punya (This Tongue is Mine) will celebrate contemporary poetry and Malay artists who experiment with the Malay language. Local indie band, The Psalms, and video artist, Wu Jun Han, will collaborate with six young contemporary arts practitioners in creating a visceral live performance that aims to introduce alternative and exciting ways in engaging the Malay language. The poetry performance will also be accompanied by a Japanese stab binding workshop and a free Zine making workshop.

The performance will be held in Malay.
